How to take RINVOQ
Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take and when. Always take RINVOQ according to your doctor’s advice.
Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
You should take RINVOQ at the same time each day. This will help you remember when to take it
Do not chew, crush, split or break the tablet before swallowing RINVOQ
RINVOQ can be taken with or without food
Avoid food or drink containing grapefruit during treatment with RINVOQ as these may interact and increase the risk of side effects
You should continue taking RINVOQ for as long as your doctor tells you to.
You need to carry on taking RINVOQ to help control your condition, even if you feel well.
Do not stop taking RINVOQ or change your dose without first consulting your doctor.
Create a routine with your RINVOQ medication
RINVOQ is a medication that needs to be taken every day to work properly. Many people find that getting used to a new medication routine can be challenging. Try asking someone you live with to help remind you, setting a daily reminder on your phone or utilising another way that suits you to get into the practice of remembering.
What happens if I forget a dose of RINVOQ?1
It is important that you do not skip doses of RINVOQ. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember as long as it is at least 10 hours before your next dose. If you forget your dose for an entire day, just skip the missed dose and take only a single dose as usual the following day. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you missed.
What happens if I take too much RINVOQ?1
If you have taken too much RINVOQ you should immediately telephone your doctor or the Poisons Information Centre (13 11 26) for advice or go straight to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.
You should do this even if you are not experiencing any signs of discomfort or poisoning – you could need urgent medical attention.1
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW WHILST TAKING RINVOQ1
- Tell any other doctors, dentists, nurses and pharmacists who treat you that you are taking RINVOQ.
- If you become pregnant while taking RINVOQ, tell your doctor immediately.
- Keep all your appointments with your doctor and for your blood tests to ensure your progress can be checked.
- Get regular skin checks, and wear sunscreen and a hat when outdoors.

THINGS NOT TO DO WITH RINVOQ1
- Unless advised by your doctor, you should not take RINVOQ to treat any other conditions you may have.
- You should not give your RINVOQ to anyone else.
- You should not stop taking your medicine or change the dosage without checking with your doctor.
Where should I store RINVOQ?1
Store your RINVOQ in a cool, dry place below 30oC and keep away from moisture, heat or sunlight. Also, remember to consider the temperature when transporting your RINVOQ medication, e.g. don't leave it in a hot car
You should keep RINVOQ out of the sight and reach of children – a locked cupboard at least 1.5 metres off the ground is a good place
Store your tablets in the original blister pack in order to protect them from moisture
Do not store your RINVOQ tablets in the bathroom, near a sink, on a windowsill or in a car
If the expiry date has passed on your medicine or your doctor tells you to stop taking it, ask your pharmacist what to do with any leftover medicine – do not throw it in the bin.
